Once applications are received at the county office, they should be reviewed and the following timeline followed:

May 2019 – County Extension Agents review applications and determine selection criteria or interviews for Ambassadors
June 1, 2019 – Notify youth of acceptance/Submit accepted names to RPL & State Coordinator
Summer 2019 – Regional Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador Summit to train ambassadors. New AND returning ambassadors MUST attend a summit to continue in the program. Dates are shown in the marketing package. Summit cost will be $75.
Youth DO NOT have to be 4-H members. In addition to the local 4-H program, agents should reach out to school organizations such as FCCLA, HOSA, or others where students with a passion for health may be participating.
During the past year, Healthy Texas Youth Ambassadors have proven to be an effective way for agents to improve and expand outreach efforts related to health education for youth and adults!
