Owning Your Piece of Texas 2020 Dates & Locations

Last year, we rolled out our newest program, Owning Your Piece of Texas: Key Laws Texas Landowners Need to Know to record-breaking crowds across the state.  The program focuses on providing practical, understandable education to Texas landowners and agricultural producers on the key laws they need to know.  Programs will cover topics like fence law, water law, landowner liability, eminent domain, and more.  These programs are designed to benefit both new and experienced landowners, and those on the farm as well as absentee landowners.

We are excited to announce our Owning Your Piece of Texas program dates and locations for 2020:

  • Amarillo – March 4, 2020 (Handbooks sponsored by Plains Land Bank)
  • Conroe – March 16, 2020
  • Seguin – June 4, 2020
  • Burnet – September 15, 2020

Each program will last from 9am – 3pm and will include local attorney guest speakers, a copy of the Owning Your Piece of Texas handbook for all attendees, and lunch sponsored by Ag Workers Insurance.  The cost is $75 per person. For more information or to register, click here.

We are working on having CE credits available for realtors at an additional cost.  Contact me if you are interested in learning more about the CE opportunity.

Sponsorship opportunities are available–feel free to contact me if you are interested.

Finally, we were honored for this program to receive a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Superior Service Team Award earlier this month.

Team members include Emmy Kiphen, Dr. Blake Bennett, and myself.  Also instrumental in helping make this program a success was Dr. Greg Kaase, Candice Foster, Lacrecia Garza, and each of the County Extension Agents who helped host our 2019 events.  I am fortunate to work with people like these who make my job easy.

This program was funded by the Southern Extension Risk Management Education Center and focused on providing an overview of key agricultural laws to Texas landowners and agricultural producers including topics like fence law, landowner liability, water law, eminent domain, and more.  To do this, we published our Owning Your Piece of Texas handbook and offered five day-long programs around the state.  We anticipated having 125 total attendees at our programs.  When the dust settled, 841 people attended.  Of those, 99.9% would recommend this program to a friend.

We hope to see you at one of our events this year!
