These lessons were developed by educators for educators with each lesson teaching important foundational science principles. Bryan Yockers is the main developer of these resources, he is a veteran high school science teacher in the Tulsa, Oklahoma region and is the founder of the Jenks Fire Ecology Research Station for Teaching program. In addition, these lessons are modeled after the Northern Rocky Mountains & Northern Cascade Curriculum offered by the FireWorks Education Program.
The goal of this program is to provide high school students with learning opportunities that align with nationally recognized standards and expectations. The framework for the lesson development is in three dimensions of learning that include, Science and Engineering Practices, Disciplinary Core Ideas, and Crosscutting Concepts.
