Forest Landowners Foundation in conjunction with Auburn University have created a survey to analyze the cost and trends of forestry management and practices. This survey is conducted bi-annually and provides a historical analysis of costs and management practices.
The latest survey captures activities from 2022. Along with the survey, a dashboard was created by Jeremy Natzke, Forest Landowner Foundation’s Rob. O fellowship recipient. The dashboard includes data from 1952 through the 2022 survey.
Specifically looking at prescribed fire, the Southern Region has an average cost of $28.38 per acre. This survey included 39,180 acres and consisted of average tracts of 103 acres. Looking directly at Texas, we can see that this number increased slightly to $33.92. The number of acres included in the survey was 5,897 acres with the average being tracts of 103-acres.
