I was very humbled yesterday to be part of groups that won at the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Panhandle District Banquet.
Our Ranchers Leasing Workshop Team, made up of Austin Voyles, Fred Hall, Kim Garcia, Shannon Ferrell, Paul Goeringer, Rusty Rumley, and myself) won the Team Teaching Award for our programs last year. As part of a grant from the Southern Extension Risk Management Education Center, we put on 5 leasing workshops in 3 states and wrote the Ranchers’ Agricultural Leasing Handbook. After the success of these programs, we have another four programs on deck for 2017. Those will be held in: Lubbock (August, exact date TBA), College Station (September 1), Pearsall (September 19), and San Angelo (October 19). Thank you to everyone on the team who worked to make these programs such a success thus far!
Plains Land Bank (Steve Donnell and Trent Tyson) were awarded the Friend of Extension Award based on their numerous contributions to Extension here in the Panhandle, including their support and sponsorship of our Ranchers Leasing Workshop here in Amarillo last June. We certainly appreciate their support and always enjoy working with them.
Lastly, I was awarded the Visionary Leadership Award for my work “leading Extension in new directions.” I’m not entirely sure what that means, but I’ll sure take it and appreciate the folks who nominated me for this honor.
I say all the time that I’ve got my dream job and a big part of that is the opportunity I have to work alongside outstanding people here in the Panhandle. Thank you all for your hard work!
