Deadline: HC Fair Food Wranglers Challenge Registration

This contest is designed to engage teams of youth in a test of food preparation skills and nutrition knowledge. Teams must create a recipe from a mystery bag of ingredients in just 45 minutes! From preparation to presentation, youth will demonstrate abilities in public speaking and teamwork to impress the judges with their culinary skills. View more detailed rules here.

Team Entry Fee: $30 for 3-5 members

Each team member MUST be academically eligible to participate.
Access the Eligibility form here – submit the completed document at check-in.


Online registration is strongly encouraged, but if you opt for registering by mail, forms and fees must be received at the Harris County AgriLife Extension Office by October 11th. Checks should be made payable to “Harris 4-H Fund”.

Join us for the kick off training in Harris County for the new Junior Master Gardener Learn, Grow, Eat & GO! (LGEG) program with energized ways to get the community excited about growing fresh food, eating right and getting active.  This training will offer teachers and professionals credits for professional development, introduce new  TEKS aligned and STARR Ready activities to enhance not only nutrition initiatives but steam up your program with kitchen science and horticulture.

We promise a real hands-on day with opportunities to partner with your Texas A&M Extension program for support in program development and resources to get your LGEG program going.

Food Wranglers Project Leader Training

We have planned a full day of food and fun! The training is open to anyone interested in supporting 4-H Food & nutrition projects and youth 8 to 18. If you have new potential members or folks that are not in 4-H Connect yet, that is not a problem, they can attend. You can expect:

  • Food Demonstrations to inspire new healthy recipes including Salsa Shake Up and Herb Sensations sure to delight the senses
  • Food Show Round Up with resources, activities and tips for improving skills at 4-H Food Show
  • Food Challenge sessions with strategies for preparing winning teams
  • Food Quiz Bowl fascinating game contest of fast intellect with nutrition fun facts
