• 9-11am — Food Show

• 10am-12pm — Food Challenge

(Entry fee=$10/team to Harris 4-H Fund)

• 1-2:30pm —Consumer Decision Making Contest

• 3-4:30pm — Healthy Lifestyles Contests

• 2-4pm — 4-H Science Fair – Discover Scientific Method Research Poster Contest

Please note, if youth want to enter both Food Show and Food Challenge we will work to schedule their Food Show interview ahead of Food Challenge. Also, if youth want to enter Consumer or Healthy Lifestyles we will work the interview schedule to accommodate that need.

Calling all 4-H Chefs!

Practice your culinary skills in time for the Food Challenge and Food Show contests – offered at 4-H District and State Roundups and even Major Shows such as San Antonio and Houston.

This year Harris County 4-H has two practice dates and locations for you to choose from:

Practice #1: Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 | 7-9pm | Harris County Extension Office, 3033 Bear Creek Dr., Houston, TX 77084
Practice #2: Thursday, Dec. 10 | 7-9pm | Crosby (address TBA)

Register by November 9, 2015 for Practice #1 and by December 7, 2015 for Practice #2.

Deadline: HC Fair Food Wranglers Challenge Registration

This contest is designed to engage teams of youth in a test of food preparation skills and nutrition knowledge. Teams must create a recipe from a mystery bag of ingredients in just 45 minutes! From preparation to presentation, youth will demonstrate abilities in public speaking and teamwork to impress the judges with their culinary skills. View more detailed rules here.

Team Entry Fee: $30 for 3-5 members

Each team member MUST be academically eligible to participate.

Online registration is strongly encouraged, but if you opt for registering by mail, forms and fees must be received at the Harris County AgriLife Extension Office by October 11th. Checks should be made payable to “Harris 4-H Fund”.
