HLSR Balloon Runners- Equine Event

Hey Harris Co. 4-H’ers!!
Would you like to be a volunteer balloon runner for the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Contest at the 2018 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo? Contestants maneuver horses through an obstacle course while firing two .45 caliber single-action revolvers at balloons set along the course. ONLY specially-prepared blank ammunition is used for this event. You do not have to be a part of a horse or animal project to sign up!
Eligibility:
- Must be at least 15 years of age or older
- Must have parent permission if under the age of 18
- All Participants must sign and submit a Code of Conduct form and Liability Waiver (link below)
- Originals forms are to be turned in to the Extension office by January 17, 2018
- Able to run and place a balloon on a designated stand
- Able to follow directions
Non-4-H members:
- If you have friends who want to sign up with you, they are welcome to do so.
- Non-4-H members must indicate so in the comments section
- We will purchase liability insurance to cover them while at the event
- They must adhere to all eligibility rules listed above
- Active 4-H members will be given priority
Times:
- There are three (3) 4-hour time slots for each day (March 14-16) that you can sign up for.
- 8am-12pm, 12pm-4pm, 4pm-8pm
- Each time slot can have up to 15 runners
- Each time slot MUST also have 2 adult chaperones (21+).
- Complimentary entry passes and other incentives will be given to those who volunteer!! (this includes signing service hour forms if you need that for school or other groups.)
- You can sign up for multiple time slots
On-Line sign up Will close at 5pm on January 12, 2018.
Forms are due IN the office by 4pm, January 17th.
