STEM Night Dates: 3rd Thursday of the month from October to February, from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at the Montgomery County Extension Office – Tom LeRoy Educational Building (slanted roof building). Each STEM Night will have a theme and be full of hands-on learning! RSVP will be required

Videography

Texas 4-H Videography Contest

An annual contest that allows youth to demonstrate videography skills and encourages self‐expression.

  • Eligibility: Intermediate and Senior 4-H Members
  • Theme: Promote 4-H
  • Entry Fee: $10 for individuals or $5 per Team member
  • Awards: 1st – $1500; 2nd – $1000; 3rd – $75

San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo Video Challenge

  • Eligibility: Any 4-H Member
  • Register: November 6 – 7, 2022 @ Major Show Sign up night at the Extension office
  • Entry Fee: $25
  • Theme: “Name and explain three things you would like someone who isn’t familiar with agriculture to know about the industry.”
  • 1-2 minute Video
  • Awards: 1st – $1000 & 2nd – $500

Photography

*Texas 4-H Photography Contest

The Texas 4-H Photography Contest encourages self-expression and allows youth to demonstrate skills learned in the area of
photography, including the use of photographic equipment and the processing of photographs.

  • Participation Grades: 9th – 12th grades
  • Photo Eligibility: Photo must be taken by participants between the dates of January 1, 2022, and the time of entry. Photos may be submitted only one time and in only one category.
  • Entry Fee: $10
  • Deadline: April 15, 2023

Categories: It is extremely important that 4-H members, project leaders, parents, and County Extension Agents review the descriptions of each category very carefully. Do not enter photographs into categories that are duplicated from other categories or ones that do not clearly meet the category description. Photographs that do not meet the description of the category will be disqualified.

*Natural Resources Photography Contest

The Texas 4-H Natural Resources Photography Contest encourages observation within specific Natural Resources project areas and allows youth to demonstrate skills learned in the area of photography, including the use of photographic equipment and processing of photographs. This contest provides another opportunity to showcase the photographic work of 4-H members in all age divisions.

  • Participation Eligibility: Any enrolled 4-H member (3rd to 12th grade)
  • Photo Eligibility: Photo must be taken by participants between the dates of December 1, 2021, and December 15, 2022. Each photo may be submitted only one time and in only one category.
    Photos may be submitted only one time and in only one category.
  • Entry Fee: $10
  • Deadline: December 1 -15, 2022

4-H Science Fair

The 4-H Roundup Science Fair provides youth the opportunity to showcase their 4-H project work through the application of scientific research, engineering, technology and/or experimentation.
Participants will 1) construct a poster, 2) deliver a short oral presentation, and 3) respond to judges’ interview questions. Projects should follow either the Scientific Method or Engineering Design Process and the poster formatted accordingly.

  • Eligibility
    • State Roundup: Senior 4-H Members (9th – 12th grades)
    • District Roundup: Any enrolled 4-H member (3rd to 12th grade)
    • County Roundup: Any enrolled 4-H member (3rd to 12th grade)
  • Projects: Participants may enter science projects focused on any of the Big Five 4-H Project areas:
    • Agriculture & Livestock
    • Family & Community Health
    • Leadership & Citizenship
    • Natural Resources
    • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
