Texas Stream Team Training

Description: Join us aboard the Star Gazer at Star Fleet Marina to become a certified water quality monitor. The training course is free and will prepare you to help monitor the Highland Bayou! Description: Volunteers are needed for water quality monitoring on Highland and other bayous in Galveston County. Results will help monitor conditions in our bayous and support the development of a clean-up plan.

How you can help -Volunteers are required to complete a free Texas Stream Team training program. Monitoring times are flexible, but must be done routinely, for example, the 1st Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. Monitoring takes approximately one to two hours. Kits will be provided by MoKa Bayous Alliance. Having trained back-ups is necessary to ensure water quality is tested when a volunteer is unable to sample.

Description: Help clean up the watershed. Come to Trash Bash this Saturday! MoKa Bayous Alliance will be at Bay Street Park in Texas City.

Once a year thousands of volunteers gather along the Texas waterways to do their part in cleaning up the environment and participate in the largest statewide event to educate the public about the importance of our water resources. Trash Bash occurs rain or shine, unless there are severe weather conditions. More information at www.trashbash.org.

Highland Bayou Project Open House 2011 08 30 public open house

Where: Galveston County Extension Building4102 B Main St. (FM 519) La Marque, TX

Description: The Highland Bayou project is an effort to improve the water quality of the Highland Bayou and surrounding bayous through a Watershed Protection Plan. One of the most important components of the plan is community participation. This open house is meant to kick start the involvement of the community in this effort. Please join us to become involved, be part of the solution and improve your bayous. Your input counts!
