Invitational Livestock Judging Contest

BCYF Invitational Livestock Judging Contest

Location: Bell County EXPO Exposition Building – Belton, Texas

Date: Friday, February 7, 2025

 Entry Fee: Pre-registration is $10/contestant available only on Judging Card; No on-site registration will be accepted. Chapter Advisors and County Extension Agents can enter teams through http://www.judgingcard.com.

 Registration: 8:00 to 8:30 AM; Livestock Show Arena, Building C

Contest Begins: 9:00 AM

Contest Results and Awards: Immediately following tabulation

Livestock Judging Contest Superintendent: Jody Williams, 254-493-4705 cell

Committee Members: Randal Rakowitz, Whitney Ingram

 

The contest is open to all 4-H Clubs and FFA Chapters in Texas. Individuals who wish to compete without a team are also welcome. Teams may consist of three or four members, with the three highest scores being used. There will be a junior division (8th grade and below), and a senior division (9th- 12th grade). For junior members to qualify for High Point Awards, they should not be placed on a Senior Team. The number of teams entered per chapter/club is unlimited.

The Livestock Judging Contest may consist of the following:

  • 8 Livestock Classes
  • 2 Questions Classes

Special Rules:

There will be eight (8) minutes allowed for each class. No talking, cell phone usage, or cheating will be tolerated during the contest. Scantrons will be provided by the Bell County Youth Fair at registration.

Awards will be as follows:

  • Buckles will be awarded to the 1st place team members, 1st place team coach, and high point individual in each age
  • A banner will be awarded to the 1st – 5th place teams
  • The top ten individuals in each specie division (beef, sheep and goats, swine, questions) will receive placing ribbons
