Public Speaking – Fall 2022

Sent,

Dear 4-H Members and Families,

It is almost time to start another Public Speaking project series with Dr. Jeff Johnson.  As many of you know, Dr. Johnson and his Toastmasters International friends have been leading this project for 31 years.  With experience and a passion for public speaking, he leads even the most reluctant 4-H youth through fun and amusing exercises to become confident leaders and speakers.  This project is a great aid to every 4-H member, especially those who would like to serve as officers at the club or county level.

Please see the following details:

  • There are only 8 spots.  By signing up you are taking one of these limited spots.  If your schedule changes and you cannot attend all eight weeks, you will be depriving another youth of the opportunity to attend.
  • The project meets every Thursday from 6:50 p.m. to 9 p.m. from September 8th to October 27th.
  • Meetings take place at the Extension office located in downtown Fort Worth.  If you have never visited the office, please see this link for directions and parking information.
  • It is very important that members be present and ready at 6:50 p.m. each week.
  • You may miss one or two meetings, but please consider signing up at a different time if you already know you will need to miss two or more days.
  • Parents may stay and sit in on the course, as well as younger siblings, as long as they do not distract from the program.  There is also plenty of space elsewhere in the conference center for parents and siblings to spread out their own work or to read quietly.  WiFi is available.
  • Register for this project by completing this form.
  • Members who have taken Public Speaking in the past can take the course again.  If it has been less than a year since you took Public Speaking, you may be asked to relinquish your spot to a member who has not taken the course before.
  • Registration will close as soon as we reach our limit, or on September 1st at 5pm.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

TCJLS Turkey Orders

Sent,

Dear 4-H Members and Families,

It is hard to believe, but it that time again to start thinking about getting your TCJLS Market Turkey orders in.

There is a slight change to the ordering this year,  you MUST order in increments of 10 (i.e. 10, 20, 30).  This is due to how I must order the birds from College Station.  If you have multiple students that are looking to do turkeys this year, you are welcome to combine their order to make getting the correct increments easier.   4-Hers you are welcome to do the same thing.  However, before picking up of the birds I will need a full list of names of everyone who will be picking up birds.

Orders begin today July 13th and will close August 29th at 5pm.  No late orders will be accepted as I will be placing the order on August 30th.
