Each year, I try to identify individuals that might be interested in cooperating on an applied research or result demonstration project. Couple of options I’m considering:
- Cattle – projects could include external parasite control (horn flies), ear growth implants on calves, and pregnancy rates in cows after calving. Ideally, we would need 20 head of cattle to have a test group and a control.
- Rangeland/Pasture Monitoring – this would include photo points or grazing exclosures. Sites would be monitored periodically throughout the year and changes/conditions would be documented.

This annual initiative focuses on finding collaborators for applied research and demonstration projects. We’re considering two main options:
Cattle Projects: These could involve testing methods for controlling external parasites like horn flies, using ear growth implants on calves, and examining pregnancy rates in cows post-calving. We need around 20 cattle to form test and control groups.
Rangeland/Pasture Monitoring: This would include setting up photo points or grazing exclosures and periodically monitoring these sites throughout the year to document changes and conditions.
