I read an article recently that talked about the single biggest cost in a cow calf operation. Answer? The failure to wean and market a live calf. Regardless of the reason, failure to market a calf out of every cow annually can be become expensive and will likely cost more this year than last year as prices continue to rise. Moreover the reason to palpate your cows and sell ones that are open.
