Bexar County Beef Cattle Short Course Nearing

The Bexar County Ag/NR Committee has an excellent short course scheduled January 7 and 14 at Palo Alto College (Ozuna Library) in San Antonio.  New in 2020 will be an opportunity for producers to obtain an hour of pesticide laws and regulation CEU credit from 5-6 pm both January 7 and 14 prior to the actual short course beginning at 6:30 pm.  These one hour classes will be optional and very timely for those needing CEU hours.  We’ll also have some new vendors, refreshments, drawings and plenty of door prizes.  Cost is $15/session.  Please RSVP to Chris Lambert at 210-631-0400 to reserve your seat.

The schedule will be as follows:

Tuesday, January 7th

5-6 pm  Pesticide Laws and Regulations – Are you in Compliance? (1 hr. L&R CEU) Melissa Barton, TDA Pesticide Inspector

6:30 pm  Range and Pasture Herbicide Update – What’s New? ( 1hr. IPM CEU) Benny Martinez, Range and Pasture Specialist – Corteva Agriscience

USDA-NRCS Programs Available to Producers  – Samantha Salinas, Resource Team Leader – Bexar County NRCS; Hector Pruneda, District Conservationist – Atascosa County NRCS

Animal Traceability – Dr. Joe Paschal, Extension Livestock Specialist

Tuesday, January 14th

5-6 pm  Labels and Labeling (1 hr L&R CEU) Vic Alexander, TDA Asst. Regional Director – Pesticides

6:30 pm  Marketing Your Calves – What Producers Need to Know? – Dr. Joe Paschal; Mike Brzozowski – Gonzales Livestock Auction; Mitchell Hardcastle – Southern Livestock; Curtiss Park – Cattle Buyer

Beef Cattle Nutrition and Supplementation Strategies – Lee Pritchard – Ridley Block Account Manager Crystalyx

The short course is sponsored by Capital Farm Credit, Corteva AgriScience, Alamo Soil and Water Conservation District, Dos Veces – Hall Ranch, Texas Farm Bureau, Ful O Pep Feeds and Ag Workers Insurance.  Program supporters include Bexar County USDA- NRCS, South Texas Farm and Ranch Club and the Texas Department of Agriculture.  We look forward to seeing you January 7 and 14 at Palo Alto College.
