Upcoming Workshop in Homestead, FL

Farmers and ranchers in South Florida—mark your calendars! On Thursday, August 7, 2025, producers are invited to attend our Business Planning & Tax Management for Farmers and Ranchers workshop. This is a hands-on, half-day workshop focused on strengthening the business portion of your agricultural operation.

Hosted at the UF/IFAS Extension Office in Miami-Dade County, this free event will walk attendees through practical tools and insights on taxes, recordkeeping, financial statements, and how to successfully prepare for and apply for FSA loans.

Date: Thursday, August 7, 2025
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Location: UF/IFAS Extension Miami-Dade County

Cost: This event is free to attend. However, registration is required!

This bilingual event is part of the AgFTAP (Agricultural Financial Training and Assistance Project) initiative, offering tools and training to help farmers and ranchers make stronger financial decisions.

Topics include:

  • An introduction to the AgFTAP Program
  • Updates on USDA programs relevant to producers
  • Agribusiness development strategies and tax guidance
  • Business planning and recordkeeping essentials
  • The basics of financial statements and how to use them

To wrap up, participants will have the chance to network over lunch and get hands-on help preparing FSA loan applications during the “Meet Your Lender” session.
