Announcing the 2025 Texas Custom Rate Survey

At the beginning of August, economists with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service initiated the 2025 Texas Custom Rate Survey. Today, we explain what this survey is, its benefits to producers, and request your help in completing the survey.

What is the Texas Custom Rate Survey?

The Texas Custom Rate Survey provides information regarding typical prices paid or charged for custom agricultural services in different regions of Texas. Typical survey respondents include producers, custom service providers, county extension agents, and other experts with knowledge of custom services and operations in their area. Producers use the information from the survey to plan expenses and update their budgets for their operation.

For more information about the survey and to view results from previous editions of the survey, visit https://agecoext.tamu.edu/resources/custom-rate-survey/.

Why Should I Participate in This Year’s Survey?

The survey relies on the knowledge of individuals who use or offer custom agricultural services throughout the state. The reliability of our estimates depends upon the number of responses we receive. In short, the more responses we receive, the more reliable the information will be once the results are published.

What if I Can’t Answer Every Question in the Survey?

We don’t expect anyone to have an answer to every question on the survey. If you can respond to even one custom rate, we encourage you to complete the survey.

How Can I Access the Survey?

If your name and address are on our contact list, you should receive a hard copy of the survey in the mail, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope that you can use to return it. You may have already received it. Also, if we have your name and email address, you have already received an email notification about the survey and a request for your response. If not, you can access the survey at tx.ag/crs2025, or by using the QR code in the flyer attached to this post. The survey should take less than 15 minutes to complete.
