High Plains Ag Week 5/15/2020

May 15, 2020 by justin.benavidez

Today, I’ve embedded material from our series Meat Market Minutes. Join me, and six other economists from the Southeast as we discuss different meat markets.

Happy Friday! Instead of a traditional post I’ve decided to share some of my ongoing work with you. I’ve worked with a group of economists from the Southeastern region on a series of videos called Meat Market Minutes. The panel includes Dr. David Anderson of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension,  Dr. Josh Maples of Mississippi State University Extension, Drs. Kenny Burdine and Jordan Shockley of the University of Kentucky’s College of Agriculture Food and Environment, and Drs. Charles Martinez and Andrew Griffith of the University of Tennessee’s Institute of Agriculture

Our goal was to shed some light on the grocery side of the livestock and meat sector. We discussed markets for lamb, dairy products, poultry, eggs, beef, and pork. The panel is composed of excellent speakers, so I thought I would direct you to those videos this week to get some sense of what’s happening at the final stage of our industry! You can find the videos at Agricultural & Resource Economics at The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture YouTube page, under the title Meat Market Minutes.
