County Record Book Contest Due Date and Drop-off Procedure

Record Books are due to the Extension Office by Monday, June 2, 2025, at 5 pm. Below are instructions on how to turn in your books this year:

  • Please make sure you complete this form Google Form Entry at home before you drop you record book at the Extension Office.
  • We will have a plastic bin at the entrance of our office for you to come by and drop off your record book.
  • It is strongly recommended that you fill out the Google Form Entry at home before you drop off your book, however there will also be a sign by the bin with a QR code that you can scan with your phone to fill out the google form.

**Remember, when you are dropping items off or picking them up from the Extension Office, we will not be able to validate parking. **

Volunteers Needed! 4-H Record Book Judging

Please let us know if you would be willing to assist in reviewing record books that our 4-H youth have submitted.  Register Here:

We will be meeting at the Tarrant County Extension Office on Thursday, June 5th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch provided).

I will provide an orientation that morning, so if you haven’t judged before, that’s o.k.!

*If you are the parent of a current 4-H’er who is turning in a book, we will put you in a different age division/category that what your youth is submitting.

Our youth work hard on their projects throughout the year and we want to provide encouraging feedback for those that choose to take the next step by filling out a record book to document their experiences.

County 4-H Awards

Now is the time to think about applying for County 4-H Awards! Below you will find information for the Criteria and Merit Based member awards.

  • The Requirements for Honor Roll or Letterman Awards may be met in one year or over the course of several years. If met over multiple years, it must be while the member is in their current age division.
  • If a member has previously received the Honor Roll or Letterman award, they must meet the criteria with all new activities to again be eligible.
  • Youth submitting Community Service Awards are NOT required to submit a record book but must complete the application completely and submit logs/records of service.
  • RookieHonor Roll & Letterman Awards require submission of a 4-H Record book (Due @ Extension Office by June 2, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.)

Merit-Based Awards

  • Outstanding New Member – Junior (3-5 grades), Intermediate (6-8 grades), Senior (9-12 grades)
  • 4-H Achievement – Junior (3-5 grades), Intermediate (6-8 grades), Senior (9-12 grades). Eligible to receive once per age division.
  • Danforth – Senior age division (9-12 grades) only. Eligible to receive once in your 4-H career.
  • Gold Star – Senior age division (9-12 grades) only. Eligible to receive once in your 4-H career. Applicants must be 15 years old, with 3 years minimum of 4-H membership, completed a minimum of 3 projects, demonstrated leadership, and completed at least 2 4-H record books.

All Merit-Based Awards require Submission of 4-H Record book (Due @ Extension Office by June 2, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.).

All Merit-Based Awards require applicants to attend an interview with a panel of judges (June 23, 2025).

*Candidates who choose to complete their interview virtually will be held to the same standards and expectations as those interviewing in person.

This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining a professional appearance, dressing in appropriate attire, being in a quiet and distraction-free environment, and demonstrating punctuality and preparedness.

Choosing a virtual format does not exempt candidates from any part of the interview evaluation criteria. Virtual interviews will take place during the same timeframe as the in-person interviews on June 23.

**Candidates applying for the ALA Scholarships MUST interview in person.

Gold Star applicants will be required to prepare a short, two-minute speech highlighting their 4-H career. Youth selected to receive the Gold Star will deliver their prepared speech at the County Awards Reception on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Location TBD.

**All County Award Submissions are DUE June 2, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.! *Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom of the google form and hit “submit”!

4-H online – 4-H youth Lab Virtual Camp FREE

Good morning 4-H families,

The Prairie View A&M University 4-H youth lab is open for registration until May 31st. This is a FREE virtual camp for youth 13-17 years old on July 15th-18th. This camp is even offered to teens that are not enrolled it 4-H. Registration is on the flyer attached at the QR code. Youth Lab 2025 is an engaging virtual camp is designed for teens interested in agriculture, offering an exciting exploration of careers in the ag industry with a special focus on beef cattle operations. Participants will connect with industry professionals, take virtual tours of working cattle farms, and gain insights into animal science and ranch management. The camp also includes virtual college tours, helping students plan their future education and career paths, all from the comfort of home. Tarrant County 4-H Graduating Senior Social Media Blitz – 2025

Attention 2025 Graduating Seniors!!!!!

Tarrant County 4-H 2025 Graduate and Family:

High school graduation is an exciting moment in the lives of graduates and their families.  As a reminder, each year, Tarrant County 4-H recognizes our graduating seniors and acknowledges the culmination of their many years of hard work, diligence, and dedication.   This year’s recognition event will take place the evening of our year-end Awards Reception – Thursday, July 31.  Be sure and mark this date in your calendar!  More information will be distributed as the reception approaches.

However, we want to begin celebrating each of you, and your amazing accomplishments, sooner verses later!!!  To that end, social media will be utilized to highlight our Tarrant County 4-H graduating seniors.

If you wish to participate in the Social Media announcements, please email the following items to tarrant4hala@gmail.com:  headshot photograph and a short, one-paragraph biography.  This biography* should include the name of your high school and/or 4-H club; number of years you were in 4-H; any officer/leadership roles in 4-H; favorite projects or hobbies; and future plans.  Additionally, you are asked to provide your advice to younger members*.

4-H Summer Camps Open

Hello Everyone!

Summer is fast approaching, and our summer camps are filling up fast!  If you have families who are looking for a great summer experience for children in 3-8 grade, summer camp is a great experience to help them grow and become more independent and gain basic life skills and leadership.  Our camps are some of the most affordable camps you will find in Texas!

Our early bird pricing ends on April 15th so encourage your families to sign up now.  We will still take registrations through June and July but the best prices end next week!

Ariat Texas Rattlers Opportunity
