Fall Fairs

Sent

Dear 4-H Members and Families,

It is time for registration for the upcoming fall fairs.  In order for youth to participate in the Youth Livestock Shows and Youth Contests at the fairs they must be active members in 4-H and register through the County Extension Agent.  The four fairs that we will be registering for in the coming weeks are:

West Texas Fair and Rodeo

Entry Form, Entry Form, and Entry Form   September 6-15, 2018

East Texas State Fair

Entry Form and Entry Form  September 21-30, 2018

State Fair of Texas

Entry Form and Entry Form   September 28 – October 21, 2018

Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo

Entry Form  October 4-13, 2018

4-H members and their parents will be responsible for printing and completing the appropriate entry forms for each show or contest that they are interested in participating in.  The above links should take you directly to each fairs rule books, entry forms, and supporting documents.  Please make sure you also complete any supporting documents.  To try to save time for everybody, we will not have a common registration day requiring everyone to come to the office.  Instead all 4-H members are asked to complete the appropriate forms and mail them or deliver them, along with payment, to the extension office.

Also take the time prior to the deadlines to make sure you are current on your Quality Counts Status.  Please look at the FAQ section of the Quality Counts website to determine if you need to be verified again. There will be a new Quality Counts program coming out in August.  A current and valid Quality Counts number will be good for the Fall Fairs.  All youth in a livestock show program will need to use the new Quality Counts program for the Major stock shows in the spring.  This link will take you to the Quality Counts program.

If you need assistance or guidance in completing the forms, you may call and talk to Veronica Cabral, at 817-884-1946, or myself.

The paperwork and payments for the West Texas Fair will need to be at the Extension Office  by 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 8th.  I will be entering everyone for the West Texas Fair on Friday, August 10th.  Please make sure you have provided us a phone number with your entry so that if there are questions or issues with the paperwork you can be reached the day of the entry.

The paperwork and payments for the remaining fairs; East Texas, the State Fair of Texas, and Heart o’ Texas Fair; will need to be at the Extension Office by 5 p.m.  Friday, August 17th.  I will be entering everyone for these three fairs on Monday, August 20th.  Please make sure you have provided us a phone number with your entry so that if there are questions or issues with the paperwork you can be reached the day of the entry.

Veronica and I are here to assist you as needed.  If you have questions please do not wait until the last minute when you are dropping off your paperwork.  We may not be available at that time.  No registrations will be performed unless payment has been submitted along with the completed paperwork.  Checks or money orders can be made out to “ELEC”.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.  Good luck to all participants and remember, 4-H is all about making the best better.
