Dear 4-H Managers and Volunteers and Parents,
The final meeting of the Adult Leaders Association will take place Tuesday, May 29th at 7 p.m. This will be the evening that next year’s ALA officers are elected. Officers for the ALA serve a vital role in the program. Some of their duties include:
- Lead bi-monthly meetings of the ALA.
- Advise and support the club managers throughout the county.
- Provide feedback and guidance to the county Extension agent.
- Support all of the youth in 4-H.
- Organize and oversee the annual county award program.
I encourage any dedicated volunteer who would like to help Tarrant County 4-H to grow and reach a larger audience to consider attending the May meeting and standing for election. Without capable leaders at the county level we cannot expect the best from our youth.
All club managers and named representatives to the ALA should attend this meeting or arrange for another named representative to vote their proxy. If you will be using a proxy, you must notify me and the ALA by email before the meeting. The ALA’s email address is Cc’ed on this email.
I would like to thank our current officers, Melinda Maynard, Teresa Womble, Rhonda Bolash, and Mary Collins, for their exceptional service over the past years. These dedicated volunteers were instrumental in keeping the Tarrant County 4-H program operating while we were without a county Extension agent during the 2016/17 year. They have also updated the financial record keeping for the ALA and reorganized the annual County Awards Banquet into an amazing evening for the members.
As the staff of Tarrant County 4-H continues our work to grow and expand the reach of 4-H, we need dedicated officers in both the ALA and the County Youth Council to support our efforts and provide guidance and critical feedback. I am looking forward to the experience and expertise that next year’s officers will bring to the team.
Just prior to the ALA meeting on the 29th will be the CYC’s Graduating Senior Reception at 6:30 p.m. Please arrive early and attend this event to celebrate and recognize our graduating seniors before the meeting begins.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for all that you do to support 4-H and the youth of Tarrant County.
