  • GRADUATE FACULTY NOMINATIONS
      1. Cooper, Caitlyn ESSM-APPROVED pending changes to degrees in Education Background and needs to add Chair to list of Roles.
      2. Franks, Cleve SCSC-APPROVED pending change to TAMU Employee Department
      3. ENTO request (for GC): Add Research and Extension faculty with professorial titles to the Graduate Faculty upon hire, as is done with tenure track faculty-Lengthy discussion regarding process and how to word the request. Would like to avoid the Special Appointment requirement. Craig Coates will draft a letter for college to be submitted to Graduate Council.
  • DOF-Graduate Committee Faculty Automated Entry – This new functionality will allow faculty to be entered into the GCF system at the time they are added into the DOF faculty hiring portal. This DOF-to-GCF automated entry is still under development and does not feed at this time. More to follow.

  • MISCELLANEOUS
    1. Departments-list all training sessions conducted for graduate students-Dr. Reed will send GPC email regarding what’s needed.
    2. Standardize letter of offer-GPC voted yes to have a standardized departmental letter for fellowship letters of offer with a checklist for departments.
    3. GAT certified-students need to be certified to teach. International students need to have passed the ELPE.
    4. Merit Fellowship update-college has one to offer for Spring/Summer 2018
    5. Spring Excellence Fellowships-no money for Spring/Summer, just Fall 2018
    6. International student health insurance-Email sent and posted on webpage for GPC with explanation from Bill Taylor, ISS Director.
    7. Added item: Graduate Student Survey-Jenna Kurten (see handout)-discussion/input with GPC on the form sections and wording. Jenna will revise and will send to college for review.
