Texas 4-H International Travel
In an ever changing world, it’s important to understand new cultures, languages, and be willing to accept all people with different cultures, customs and values.
You can interact with people from other countries, explore various cultural norms and learn about their customs. This project can include home study, international travel, and service projects.
Current travel opportunities include:
International Exchange with Japan – Texas 4-H partners with Texas Global Education and the LABO and LEX programs of Japan to place Japanese youth and chaperon delegates in Texas homes for a four-week summer immersion homestay. Texas youth, age 14 and older, can also travel to Japan for a similar four-week summer homestay.
International Study Tour – Texas 4-H provides 4-H members, ages 14 and older, the opportunity to participate in this program every two years. The group will travel to Australia and New Zealand July 10-19, 2017. Applications are now available.
International Exchange with Costa Rica – County 4-H programs are encouraged to look into this new opportunity for a summer exchange with a Costa Rican school.
Heifer International – Check out this program that provides a Global Village simulation, allowing youth participants to experience poverty, limited resources and life in a developing country, without actually traveling abroad. The program is located in Perryville, Arkansas.
