As of January 1, 2017 purchasing feed containing antibiotics or purchasing antibiotics for administration will require livestock exhibitors to have a working relationship with their veterinarian (VCPR). This will require the livestock exhibitors to have a veterinarian’s oversight and prescription of the antibiotic. There has been many questions in regards to this new policy. Therefore, Victoria County is putting on a Youth Livestock Symposium to go over the VFD updates, a veterinarian perspective and the importance of Quality Counts to better assist our youth and families.
This event is open to all 4-H members and their families. If you would like to attend, please RSVP by November 1 by calling 361-575-4581. The event will be held at 5:30 – 8:00 PM on November 10 at Victoria Education Gardens Pavilion, 283 Bachelor Drive, Victoria, TX 77904
Guest Speakers of the night will be Dr. Joe Mask – Youth Veterinarian Specialist for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, Mrs. Dottie Goebel – Texas Youth Livestock and Agriculture Extension Associate and Dr. John M. Davidson, DVM – Sr. Professional Services Veterinarian.
I have attached the Flyer for the Victoria County Youth Livestock Symposium and the letter from Texas A&M informing us about the new changes Livestock Exhibitor VFD Letter .
