This year was a great success for the members of Fannin County 4-H during the Fannin County Fair! There were 19 members with 28 livestock exhibits at the Fair. Members showed heifers, lambs, breeding rabbits and breeding poultry as well as having fryer and broiler pens.
At the Market Broiler Show on Friday, Monte Wallace received 4th place, Ashley Shrum received 5th place and Nicole Shrum received 6th place. All three Broiler Pens were sold at the Livestock Sale Saturday night. In the Market Sheep Show, Sterling Davis placed 1st in the lightweight class and Shane Davis placed 2nd. At the Market Fryer Show Kodie Landers placed 4th and Emily Sweet placed 6th. Kodie’s Fryer pen also sold at the Livestock Sale Saturday night. At the Breeding Rabbit Show, Rayna Fetters won Best of Breed, Best of Class 4 Rabbit Breeds, Best of Breed Overall and Grand Champion Sr. Rabbit Showmanship with her Netherland Dwarf. Jenna Lee won Grand Champion Jr. Rabbit Showmanship and placed 2nd in the Senior Holland Lop Doe division. Alyssa Roberts placed 2nd in the Sr. Mini Rex Buck division. Coby Stapleton won 1st place in the Jr. American Fuzzy Lop Buck Division and Best of Breed – American Fuzzy Lop. Nate Stapleton won 1st place in the Jr. Lion Head Buck Division. Valerie Stapleton won 1st place in the Jr. Holland Lop Buck Division. Emily Sweet won 2nd place in Jr. Californian Doe division. At the Commercial Heifer Show Katy Burnett received 1st place in the Fall Born Division.
On Saturday at the Breeding Beef Show, Braylee Cowan won Overall Grand Champion and Overall Reserve Champion Beef Master. Garrett Chaney won Class 2 and Class 3 of the Brangus Division, while Emma Chaney won Class 4 of the Brangus Division. Emma Chaney won Overall Grand Champion Brangus and Garrett Chaney won Overall Reserve Champion Brangus. Braylee Cowan won Class 2 and 5 in the Santa Gertrudis division and won both Overall Grand and Overall Reserve Champion Santa Gertrudis. Ryon Chaney won Class 3 of the ARB division. In the American Heifer Champion Drive, Braylee Cowan won Overall Grand Champion with her Santa Gertrudis and Emma Chaney won Overall Reserve Champion with her Brangus. Shane Davis received 2nd place in the Miniature Hereford Division, Class 4 and went on to win Overall Reserve Grand Champion Miniature Hereford. In the end, Braylee Cowan won the Supreme Overall Breeding Beef Show with her Beef Master.
