4-H projects are the educational experiences that youth who are members of 4-H participate in. These can be club, county, and state supported projects, or they can be projects that 4-H members determine for themselves, research through various methods, and then conduct learning strategies in. Below are additional projects that are active in Victoria County.
Consumer Education
The Consumer Education Project teaches youth understanding of the marketplace and the personal factors that influence consumer choices. Consumer Decision Making Contests, Educational Presentations, and Farm and Ranch Economics are just a few ways youth can become involved in this project. Project meetings usually begin in December and conclude in May.
Horticulture
The Horticulture Project teaches youth about gardening. 4-H is fortunate to partner with the Victoria County Master Gardener program to offer several educational opportunities at the Victoria Educational Gardens. The project typically meets during the spring months.

Range Science and Management
The Range Science and Management Project teaches youth to be better stewards of our environment by becoming familiar with 125 species of native and introduced range and pasture grasses, forbs, and brush. Youth can also compete in the Plant ID contest where they have to identify and classify 40 to 50 live or mounted grass specimens according to their life span, season of growth, origin, and grazing value for livestock and wildlife. The project usually begins meeting in September with Plant ID contests occurring in the spring months.
Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program
WHEP (Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program) is a 4-H youth natural resource program dedicated to teaching wildlife and fisheries habitat management to youth in the United States. The project participates in learning experiences throughout the year and competes in skills contests during the spring months.
