Private Applicator Pesticide License –
Your license is good for five (5) years. The issue date and expiration date are on your license.
During your five (5) year licensing period, you are required to get fifteen (15) hours of Continue Education Units (CEU’s) to renew your license. Out of the fifteen (15) hours you must have a minimum of two (2) hours in Laws and Regulations (L&R) and two (2) hours in Integrated Pest Management (IPM). You may have additional hours in L&R and IPM and the extra hours accumulated will go towards your total of fifteen (15) hours.
Commercial and Non-Commercial Licenses –
Your license must be renewed every year.
During this period you are required to get five (5) hours of CEU’s. Out of the five (5) hours you must have one (1) hour in at least two (2) out of the three (3) following categories: Drift Management; L&R; IPM. The rest of your required hours can be in any category (Drift, General, L&R or IPM).
All TDA licenses are “self certify.” This means that the Extension office, TDA or any other organization that gives CEU’s is not required to keep track of the hours you accumulate. The CEU Certificate you receive at the end of each program is your proof of the CEU’s you earned.
Should you not get the required hours needed to renew your license, you may try to get them after the expiration date and pay a penalty fee when you renew. If you decide not to get your hours, you will be required to sit out a full year (12 months) before you are able to take the training/testing to get a new license. During this time period you will not be able to purchase any state, restricted or limited use pesticides.
