Awards

The 4-H Awards Program is designed to recognize youth for their project work, leadership, and personal growth and development. The Awards Year runs the same as the 4-H year (September 1 through August 31).

Project Completion Pinpins

 

 

 

 

Project Completion Pin Forms are due to the Brazoria County Extension Office by

June 30th, 5 pm. They can also be emailed to Cassidy Smolik cassidy.smolik@ag.tamu.edu

Multiple Project Pins may be applied for. Please see the Project Completion Pin Categories below to decide what pins can be applied for.

Clover Kids can only apply for these Project Pins: Dog Care & Training Pin, Food & Nutrition Pin, Clothing & Textiles Pin, Healthy Living Pin, Gardening & Horticulture Pin, Rabbits/Cavy Pin, Robotics Pin, and Outdoor Education & Recreation Pin

Members who completed Project Pin applications, and/or competed at county, district, or state 4-H events will be eligible for an end of year gift. End of year gifts will be emailed to family email in 4-H Online. Members must attend end of year awards program to receive end of year gift.

Star Awards

Star Awards Intent Form & Record book Due to 4-H Office – May 20th

The Star Awards are a series of awards showing progression of the 4-H members involvement, including growth and diversification of both the 4-H member and their projects/events. This is achieved by submitting a 4-H Recordbook, which will be evaluated by judges and displays members project work and achievement, leadership, and personal growth and development.  The Star Awards series begins with Junior Level Awards the “Bronze Star” (Step 1) and “Green Star” awards (Step 2).  Next is the Intermediate awards:  The “Rising Star” (Step 3) – and “Silver Star” (Step 4).  Our Senior level awards are the, Danforth “I Dare You” National Award and the “Gold Star” (Steps 5 and 6).

Each award may only be received once

These awards were designed to be received in the sequence stated, but being a prior recipient of an award is not a requirement. Once you have received a step award you may not apply for a lower step award (no regression).

battle of the Clovers

Battle of the Clovers

Gives 4-H members the opportunity to earn points for their 4-H Club to see who can be the ultimate 4-H Club for the year. Opportunities include attendance at county meetings, representing your club at district and state events, fundraising, and much more! Each year the Battle of the Clover list and points will be evaluated and decided on by the 4-H Agent and updated for the new year. Points will be maintained by the 4-H Office and will be posted to the Google Sheet on the 4-H Website.

Deadline: Battle of the clover points begin the day after the 2023 Awards Program, and ends July 20th, 2024. Points earned between July 20th and the 2024 Awards Program will be added to 2024-2025 year points.

For club and project meeting reports please email them to cassidy.smolik@ag.tamu.edu until 4-H Online allows reports to be turned in online.

Current Standings For The 2023-2024 4-H Year

Rules

  • Participants must be an active 4-H member or parent Volunteer in 4-H Connect, 3rd -12th grade for 4-H members, to earn points.
  • Points will be awarded to your Primary Club in 4-H Online.
  • Points will be tracked by the County 4-H Office, September 1st through July 31st.
  • Verification of participation in 4-H events will come from 4-H Online. Always take a picture of you at the event just in case.
  • For volunteers participating in virtual or in-person district and state trainings, please take a screenshot and send it to cassidy.smolik@ag.tamu.edu to earn points.
  • The 4-H Office will make the edits to Battle of the Clovers each year and will have the final say on the Point System.

Point System

5 Points

  • For each enrolled 4-H Volunteer that attends a Parent Association meeting
  • For each enrolled 4-H member that attends a County Council meeting
  • For each month your 4-H Club posts a Facebook picture from that month’s 4-H Club meeting, must tag the Brazoria County 4-H Facebook page.
  • For each club project meeting report your 4-H club turns into 4-H Online/emailed to agent within one week of your project meeting – must have a minimum of 5 participants and can earn points for up to 4 project meetings a month.
  • For every $500 raised in the county fundraisers.

10 Points

  • For every 4-H Club Report form turned in to the 4-H office 7 week days after the meeting.
  • For each 4-H member that attends Jr. Leadership Lab (this includes teen leaders).
  • For each 4-H member that attends Sr. Leadership Lab.
  • For each 4-H Volunteer that attends an in-person or virtual district or state trainings
  • For each 4-H member who enters a 4-H Recordbook at the county level.
  • For each 4-H member that attends a District 9 Council Meeting.
  • For each 4-H member that competes at a District 9 4-H event.
  • For each club that gets points in at least 5 columns.

20 Points

  • For each 4-H Club submitting an annual 4-H Club Community Service Log by the posted due date.
  • For each member that competes at a Texas 4-H Roundup Contest.
  • For each state 4-H ambassador or state council representative in the club.
  • For each Tractor Supply Company 4-H promotional Paper Clover Campaign or McCoy’s Clover Days display at a store. Must take a picture and tag the Brazoria County 4-H Facebook page.
  • For each club that gets points in at least 10 columns.

This form is used to recognize two outstanding 4-H Adult Leaders. One male and one female can be nominated from each Brazoria County 4-H Club.

  • Please use the person's actual name. If nominee is selected, it will be used on their plaque.
  • Please list gender of nominee as only one male, and one female from each club can be nominated.
  • Please select the club your nominee is affiliated with.
  • Please list the number of years of service your nominee has as a 4-H volunteer.
  • How did this leader become first involved in 4-H
  • Write a short script that could be used when presenting the award to the nominee, if selected. Include the person’s most outstanding accomplishments in 4-H as a leader.
  • What specific impacts has this person’s contributions had on 4-H members, parents, other volunteers and the program in general? (Focus on youth and / or volunteer development.)
  • What impact has this person’s leadership had on youth, adults and the community through overall extension programs and/or educational efforts by other agencies or organizations?

Senior Cords and Stoles of Gratitude

Graduation from high school is a milestone in any youths life. The Parent’s Association of Brazoria County 4-H would like to mark the event by giving all active 4-H seniors a token to display all their hard work and dedication to the 4-H program. The Parent’s Association ask seniors to select either Cords or Stoles of Gratitude to wear during your graduation ceremony to show your 4-H accomplishments on your special day.
