Natural Resource Ecology and Management

My area of interest lies in the sustainable use of environmental resources to improve human quality of life whilst conserving the natural world. My current focus is on the environmental impact of the energy industry. In addition to my graduate studies, I am working as a Research Assistant for EnergeA on international environmental legislation applied to the energy industry. More specifically, I am reviewing and helping create regulations for Mexico’s government to avoid and reduce environmental impacts associated with drilling projects.  In addition, I am also very intrigued by green roofs. Considering most green roof research has been conducted in temperate climates, I am interested in the selection of plants that thrive in warmer, drier climates that can also withstand the adverse conditions associated with life on a roof. Coupled with other sustainable technologies, green roofs with hand-picked plant species can provide a strong system that balances art, aesthetics, ecosystem services, and human needs.
