{"id":4128,"date":"2019-08-23T11:27:52","date_gmt":"2019-08-23T16:27:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/agrilife.org\/wharton4h\/?page_id=4128"},"modified":"2022-10-04T09:56:38","modified_gmt":"2022-10-04T14:56:38","slug":"food-challenge","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/agrilife.org\/wharton4h\/projects\/food-nutrition\/food-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Food Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Texas 4-H Food Challenge contest is one of the most popular contests in the 4-H program and this year it is getting a facelift!\u00a0 Changes have been made to the contest for several reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To reflect consistency with other state and national contests.<\/li>\n<li>To reflect comments and suggestions from agents, 4-H members, and coaches.<\/li>\n<li>To reflect easier to use resources for our youth.<\/li>\n<li>To reflect the need to continuously evaluate the success of our programs!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This contest, modeled after such competitions as the Food Network\u2019s \u201cIron Chef,\u201d challenges teams of 4-H members to create a dish using only a predetermined number of ingredients. From these ingredients, team members must identify and prepare the dish, then make a presentation about it to the judges. The presentation will include information about the serving size, nutritional value, and cost of the dish.
