There is an 81% chance that this intensity will take place between November and January.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, researchers show only 1 in 5 chance that this El Ni<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00f1<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o becomes \u201c<\/span><b>historically strong<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d rivaling similar El Ni<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00f1<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o events in 2015 &#8211; 2016 and 1997-1998.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During El Ni<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00f1<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o, the Southern States will experience a winter that will tend to be colder and wetter.
