\"\"<\/a>Despite being weak, El Ni<\/span>\u00f1<\/span>o conditions continue to be in place, after the event was deemed officially underway a month ago. <\/span>This is the first El Ni\u00f1o in four years and <\/span>there is a 90% chance that these conditions will remain throughout winter.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) El Ni<\/span>\u00f1<\/span>o is forecasted to grow in strength through the fall and winter, peaking from moderate to strong intensity range from late fall to winter. There is an 81% chance that this intensity will take place between November and January.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, researchers show only 1 in 5 chance that this El Ni<\/span>\u00f1<\/span>o becomes \u201c<\/span>historically strong<\/b>\u201d rivaling similar El Ni<\/span>\u00f1<\/span>o events in 2015 – 2016 and 1997-1998.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During El Ni<\/span>\u00f1<\/span>o, the Southern States will experience a winter that will tend to be colder and wetter. The Northern half of the country will experience warmer temperatures. <\/span>The Southwest, Southern Plains and mid-Atlantic have had their snowiest winters during El Ni\u00f1o.<\/span><\/p>\n
