Dear 4-H Members and Families,<\/p>\n

We are proud to have a new community partner in Fort Worth Camera<\/strong> who will be supporting our county photography contest.\u00a0 This year, we will have professional photographers and educators serve as judges and there will be a 4-H photography exhibition. Select entries will be professionally printed, mounted, and displayed in the Montgomery Street store\u2019s gallery space<\/strong>.\u00a0 4-H members will have the opportunity to meet the judges at a reception on Friday, February 23rd<\/strong>.\u00a0 All entries will be displayed as a slideshow during the reception.<\/p>\n

Please use this form<\/a> to register<\/strong>.\u00a0 Registration must be complete by Monday, February 5th<\/sup> at 5 p.m.\u00a0 Each member will need to complete the form separately.\u00a0 Before starting the form make sure you completely read this email and your pictures meet the following requirements.<\/p>\n

Photos will be submitted in digital format and must be a minimum of 300 dpi quality resolution, have a 5:4 (8″x10″) ratio in either landscape or portrait format, and no larger than 5120 KB (5 MB).\u00a0 Photos may be submitted by uploading through the entry form or emailed to ana.murillo@ag.tamu.edu<\/a>.\u00a0 Photo files need to be titled in the following format \u201cLastName_FirstName_Category\u201d.\u00a0 Please use the underscores as separators.<\/p>\n

There is an entry fee for the photo contest this year<\/strong>.\u00a0 For each member, the cost is $2 for each of the first 5 entries and $1 for each entry after that.\u00a0 The total charge for a member that enters every category is $20.\u00a0 These fees will be used to support this event.\u00a0 Compared to the $4 to $5 cost of printing 8\u201dx10\u201d photos that was imposed last year, a member that enters every category will save $40 to $55.\u00a0 Payments can be made at the Extension office in person, if you would like a receipt, or mailed.\u00a0 Cash or check will be accepted but must be at the Extension office no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, February 5th<\/sup>.\u00a0 If you are mailing in payment for multiple youth, be sure that it is clear who the payment applies to.<\/p>\n

We are accepting entries from Clover Kids this year<\/strong>.\u00a0 They will be judged separately and will not be charged an entry fee.\u00a0 Clover kids are limited to 3 entries.<\/p>\n

This county event will serve as the qualifier for the state photography contest.\u00a0 The state contest is only open to senior 4-H members.\u00a0 Entrants for the state contest will be given preference based on their score in the county contest.<\/p>\n

It is recommended that all members read the <\/strong>17-18 Texas 4-H Photo Rules<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 We will follow these rules except in regards to Participation Grades, County Entries, Entry Fee rate (we will use our own rate above), Entry Method, Event Name, Entry Period, Awards and Recognition, and Roundup Display and Participation. Please pay particular attention to the category descriptions and make sure your each entry qualifies for the category that it will be judged in.<\/p>\n

Please make sure you are signed up in 4-H Connect for the photography project.\u00a0 We will be sending out information for the upcoming Fort Worth 4-H Photography Project<\/strong> that will be coming in the spring.\u00a0 This will be an opportunity for youth to learn from a professional photographer at the Montgomery Street store\u2019s classroom facility.<\/p>\n
