State 4H Round-up:  (tenatatively Tuesday, June 4th). This contest is for Senior 4H (9th – 12th grade):  This is an Invitational contest (meaning do not have to qualify at District or County to participate).  The Robotics Challenge is structured as a sumo-style competition. The sumo format will test teams’ strategy, engineering design, and programming skills. Teams will bring a fully assembled and programmed robot to compete against others in the tournament until a winner is declared. Two robots will “wrestle” in a dohyō (sumo ring) designed for robots. As with human Sumo wrestling, the goal of sumo-style robotics is to gain leverage over an opponent and force it out of the ring. Please note, this is NOT a “battle bots” style competition. In other words, intentionally destructive robots are not allowed.  Register online through 4H online May 1-May 13.

Also, Keller 4H is offering 1 lb robotics through North Texas Bot Battles — they are having a competition on Saturday, October 21st from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (bring your own chairs); 8755 N Riverside Dr, Fort Worth TX 76177 (at a police station) — note this is North of 820 and the split of I-35W and 287.  If interested, please make plans to check it out.
