Host Families needed

Sent

Dear 4-H Families and Members,

Please read the information received from Darlene Locke from the State office.

Good afternoon, I am sending this to seek your help in promoting the LABO LEX Japanese Exchange Program to families in your community. Texas 4-H will host 20 youth and 2 Adult chaperones (both female) this summer, July 22 – August 17. If you know of families that would be open to sharing their home with a student or chaperone, please pass this on. 4-H membership is not a requirement.

We still need host families for two male youth; Host Families must have a boy of similar age:

Yuki, age 13 who likes playing, table tennis, Japanese chess, cards, video games and soccer. He also enjoys painting/drawing, arts/crafts, tv comedy and his dog. His favorite school subject is Arithmetic.

Teruki, age 12 enjoys soccer, volleyball, reading, swimming, gymnastics, drawing and painting. He also like playing the violin, visiting museums and nature. His favorite school subject is Science.

Our female chaperone can be hosted for the entire four weeks, or just for two if that meets a Host Family’s schedule. Host Families for chaperones do not have to have children living in the home. Retirees, Empty Nesters, and such make excellent Chaperone hosts. The chaperone does not visit the student delegates but has a mobile phone so she can be in contact as needed with the student delegates. She is just part of the Host Family activities. Host dates are July 22 – August 4 and August 4-17 or the full four weeks.

If you have questions or need additional information, please let me know. And thanks, for sharing this so we can find these three additional families and let our Japanese visitors know they have a ‘home’ this summer.
