Feral Hog Hunting on the Broseco Ranch

Don Edwards, Broseco Ranch, Rt. 2 Box 195, Omaha, Texas 75571

The Broseco Ranch is located in Morris and Titus Counties and consists of 34,000 acres. Recreational opportunities available on this working cattle ranch include sportfishing and hunting for white-tailed deer, quail, dove, waterfowl and feral hogs. The ranch employs a full-time wildlife manager.

The ranch contains an estimated population of feral hogs of 1,000 or more. Because of damage to coastal bermudagrass pastures by the hogs, an aggressive trapping program has become necessary.

Guided dog hunts will be offered for the first time in 1993. Unguided three day hunts are offered form February 1 through the summer. A maximum of 50 hunters can be accommodated at a time.
