Anderson<\/em>, in which it decided a question never answered by the state&#8217;s highest Court.\u00a0 Because the court reasoned that there are other remedies at law available to the Archers and that it was not the Court&#8217;s place to judicially modify the Texas Probate Code, the justices held that Texas does not recognize the claim of intentional interference with inheritance.\u00a0 [Read Opinion <a href=\"http:\/\/www.txcourts.gov\/media\/1441859\/160256.pdf\">here<\/a>.]<\/p>\n<p><strong>* North Carolina jury awards $25 million in second swine farm nuisance case.<\/strong>\u00a0 You may recall from this prior blog post that there are 26 pending lawsuits in North Carolina against Smithfield Farms&#8217; subsidiary, Murphy Brown, for nuisance.\u00a0 The first case resulted in a $50 million verdict for the plaintiffs (which was later reduced to approximately $3 million due to a damage cap in state statute).\u00a0 Last week, a jury in the second case also found in favor of the plaintiffs and awarded $25 million, which will likely be reduced to $630,000 under state law.\u00a0 An appeal is expected.\u00a0 [Read article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsobserver.com\/news\/local\/article214096384.html#emlnl=Breaking_Newsletter\">here<\/a>.]<\/p>\n<p><strong>*EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt resigns.<\/strong>\u00a0 Scott Pruitt has resigned as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, amid investigations into several alleged scandals.\u00a0\u00a0EPA Deputy Andrew Wheeler has been confirmed to serve as Acting Administrator.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0[Read article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2018\/07\/05\/scott-pruitt-resigns-as-epa-chief-trump-announces.html\">here<\/a>.]<\/p>\n<p>*<strong>Dicamba damage being reported across the South.<\/strong>\u00a0 Dicamba damage is starting to pop up in soybean fields across the South, something that many hoped was a thing of the past.\u00a0 According to\u00a0 Kevin Bradley, the Missouri Bootheel already reports 25,000 acres of damaged soybeans.\u00a0 Numbers are worse in Arkansas, over 100,000 acres, despite an April 15 cut-off date for application.\u00a0 Smaller acreage reports of damage are also being seen in Tennessee and Arkansas.\u00a0 [Read article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deltafarmpress.com\/soybeans\/suspected-mid-south-dicamba-drift-cases-picking?NL=DFP-01&amp;Issue=DFP-01_20180627_DFP-01_206&amp;sfvc4enews=42&amp;cl=article_1&amp;utm_rid=CPG02000000698080&amp;utm_campaign=28902&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;elq2=6c542ad04a0143a1b1f8aac446b21935\">here<\/a>.]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Independence Day!\u00a0 My family celebrated with a small town parade\u00a0here in the Texas Panhandle,\u00a0which our two little ones really enjoyed!
