{"id":6110,"date":"2018-05-11T15:31:47","date_gmt":"2018-05-11T20:31:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/agrilife.org\/texasaglaw\/?p=6110"},"modified":"2026-04-17T15:23:32","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T20:23:32","slug":"may-11-2018-weekly-round-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/agrilife.org\/texasaglaw\/2018\/05\/11\/may-11-2018-weekly-round-up\/","title":{"rendered":"May 11, 2018 Weekly Round Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve made it to another Friday!\u00a0 To those of you joining from the Montague County Fence Law Meeting yesterday, welcome!\u00a0 Here are some ag law stories in the news this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>*NC Judge significantly limits award in nuisance lawsuit.<\/strong>\u00a0 You may recall last week we mentioned the $50 million nuisance verdict in favor of neighbors against Murphy Brown hog farms in North Carolina.\u00a0 This week, the trial court judge limited the damage award to $3.25 million, which would equate to $325,000 per plaintiff.\u00a0 This decision was based on a North Carolina statute that puts a cap on punitive damages.
