I hope everyone is staying cool this summer! \u00a0Here are some of the ag law stories in the news this week.<\/p>\n

*Preparing to successfully transition the farm or ranch to the next generation.<\/strong> \u00a0For many farm and ranch families, the goal is to keep the farm involved in agriculture and in the hands of the family for generations to come. \u00a0This week, I had my friend Shannon Ferrell on the podcast to discuss farm and ranch transition planning. \u00a0This is a topic that affects every single farm and ranch family and is much more complex than having a will in place. \u00a0I urge you to take an hour and listen to this podcast episode and consider the wonderful advice Shannon offers. \u00a0[Listen here<\/a>.]<\/p>\n

*Article on insurance considerations for ag operations.<\/strong> \u00a0Lindsay Allen recently interviewed me for an article about insurance considerations for farmers and ranchers. \u00a0As we discussed, having a good liability policy in place and ensuring that policy covers all activities occurring on the property is critical for all ag producers to consider. \u00a0The article, “Insuring the Possibilities” was recently published in the Gulf Coast Cattleman Magazine, starting on page 20. \u00a0[Read article here<\/a>.]<\/p>\n

* Dicamba update.<\/strong> \u00a0As we mentioned last week, Arkansas has enacted a 120-day ban on the use of the chemical Dicamba (exceptions for forage and pastures) amidst a large number of drift complaints in the state. \u00a0Additionally, Missouri had issued a Stop Sale, Use or Removal Order, essentially prohibiting the application in the state. \u00a0However, on Thursday, Missouri lifted the ban but imposed additional limitations. \u00a0Tennessee has also implemented strict application restrictions. \u00a0[Read article here<\/a>.]<\/p>\n
