{"id":3265,"date":"2015-08-07T02:28:39","date_gmt":"2015-08-07T07:28:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/agrilife.org\/texasaglaw\/?p=3265"},"modified":"2026-04-17T15:29:31","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T20:29:31","slug":"august-7-2015-weekly-round-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/agrilife.org\/texasaglaw\/2015\/08\/07\/august-7-2015-weekly-round-up\/","title":{"rendered":"August 7, 2015 Weekly Round Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night I spoke at the Amarillo Ag Club meeting and really enjoyed the great discussion with everyone in the group! \u00a0To those of you new to the blog from that meeting, welcome! \u00a0Here are some ag law stories in the news this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>* \u00a0Idaho &#8220;Ag Gag&#8221; Law Held Unconstitutional.<\/strong> \u00a0A federal judge in Idaho has ruled the state&#8217;s &#8220;ag gag&#8221; law, which was passed last year to prohibit persons obtaining access to ag operations through false pretenses or recording ag operations without consent, violates the United States Constitution. \u00a0Specifically, the law violates the Equal Protection Clause and the Free Speech Clause. \u00a0Next week I will have a full blog discussing the Court&#8217;s ruling and potential impact. \u00a0Stay tuned for that. \u00a0[Read opinion <a href=\"https:\/\/app.box.com\/s\/liwt3b4hvb4nn5jzbc258br4khlzvq32\">here<\/a>.]<\/p>\n<p><strong>* \u00a0Understanding the Condemnation Process.<\/strong> \u00a0I&#8217;ve been getting lots of phone calls lately from folks who have been approached by oil and gas companies or transmission line companies seeking an easement across the landowner&#8217;s property.
