The Endangered Species Act has been in the news on nearly a daily basis this year.\u00a0 We have seen new listings of several animals under the Act, which will impact landowners, farmers and ranchers, the oil and gas industry, and others in the areas in which the listed animals live.\u00a0 In light of this, I developed an Extension Fact Sheet that provides a brief overview of the Act.\u00a0 My intent is to give people an idea of how the act works, the major provisions, and the options available to effected landowners.<\/p>\n

Because the ESA can have a significant impact on agriculture, it is important that all of us involved in the industry be aware and have at least a basic understanding of this law.<\/p>\n
