Plant Pathology

The Extension plant pathology unit is primarily responsible for outreach, off-campus educational programs concerning the nature, cause, and management of plant disease on the wide range of economic plants important to the people of Texas. A wide variety of education techniques are on-site field demonstrations and more.
The Texas Plant Disease Diagnostic Laboratory is staffed by Extension plant pathologists and provides plant disease diagnostic services using some of the most advanced diagnostic tools available. We conduct applied research on a wide range of plant disease problems to develop new, practical information concerning plant diseases. This research information further enhances our educational efforts. Extension plant pathologists are located at University Research and Extension Centers across the state of Texas in Amarillo, Beaumont, Chilllicothe-Vernon, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Lubbock, Overton, San Angelo, Stephenville, Temple, Uvalde, and Weslaco. Strategically located, the Extension plant pathologists are better able to serve the plant pathology needs of the people of Texas.
