Small yard?\u00a0 Want a 4-H project involving animals?\u00a0 Try the 4-H Dog Project!\u00a0 In the dog project, participants learn about dog care and training.\u00a0 Beginners work on obedience and showmanship\/conformation, while advanced handlers work on obedience, showmanship, agility and drill team or rally.\u00a0 Even though not all of the participants take their dogs to shows, everybody trains and practices like they are preparing to show.<\/p>\n

So what if your dog is a mixed breed?\u00a0 That’s okay!\u00a0 The dog project group welcomes dogs of all breeds and ages, as long as they are fully vaccinated.\u00a0 This project offers you and your dog training and fun.<\/p>\n

All new dogs must have up-t0-date shot records.\u00a0 A list of necessary shots can be obtained from dog project leaders.\u00a0 Once a dog’s shot records have been submitted and approved, the dog and handler may begin the beginner obedience class, which is required for all new participants.\u00a0 The six week class only happens in the fall, and\u00a0is designed to teach the following:\u00a0 basic commands, social skills, and handling abilities.\u00a0 The handler and dog must pass thes kills test in order to participate in the other dog project classes.<\/p>\n
