Papers presented at ICoMST 2018 in Melbourne, Australia

Rhonda Miller, Gordon Carstens, Ashley Arnold, Kayley Wall, Chris Kerth, and Jeff Savell of the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University participated in and presented papers at the 64th International Congress of Meat Science and Technology (ICoMST), which was held in Melbourne, Australia on August 12-17, 2018. Arnold presented her paper during the oral sessions and the rest of the papers were presented during the poster sessions. Aggie faculty contribute to Lawrie’s Meat Science, 8th edition

Three faculty members in the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University provided chapters to the newly revised, Lawrie’s Meat Science, Eighth edition. Rhonda Miller, Kerri Gehring, and Jeff Savell each wrote chapters working with Dr. Fidel Toldrá, the editor of this edition, to complete the publication process. Professor Ralston Lawrie was a world-renown meat scientist and wrote multiple editions of “Meat Science” during his life. Riley receives Vice Chancellor Award in Excellence

Ray Riley ’79, manager of the Rosenthal Meat Center and longtime member of the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University, received the Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence for Technical and Programmatic Staff for 2015 at a ceremony at the AgriLife Center on January 14, 2016. Savell selected as a namesake for Fish Camp

Jeff Savell, University Distinguished Professor, Regents Professor, and E.M. “Manny” Rosenthal Chairholder in the Department of Animal Science, was a Fish Camp Namesake for the 2015 incoming freshmen at Texas A&M University. Being selected as a Fish Camp Namesake is one of the highest honors someone can receive at Texas A&M University, and namesakes are chosen based on nominations and selections by students. Stephen Smith named ASAS Fellow in Research | Animal Science
