AgriFlex Users – Creating a Side Menu

On the left pane, under Appearance choose Menus Left pane - appearance, menus selection

Once on the menus page, click on the + sign (next to the main navigation) top right to create a new menu.

Note: the main navigation menu has already been created.  The main navigation menu is that one that appears horizontally above the page.

Creating a side menu

Give the menu a name in box available; for example “County Programs”  This name is to just identify the new menu and will not appear on your website.

Click the blue Create Menu button

In Theme Locations (on same page in middle) in the Primary Navigation box make sure main navigation is selected.

Click Save

Now you’re ready to populate your menu.

In the Pages box,  Choose view All

Check the  boxes for those pages you want to appear on your site menu; in this example, the new  “County Program” menu we’re creating

Click the Add to Menu button.  This will create gray horizontal boxes to the right, under  the new side menu just created.

Once there in the menu box you can organize them by scrolling over one of  the gray boxes, getting the 4 arrow cursor, left clicking and dragging it in place.

To create a drop down menu – a child page under a parent page – scroll over the gray box and indent to the right a little bit; a dotted line will appear.  Release the mouse button and the gray box will drop in place.

Once you’ve organized the menu the way you want it, click the Save Menu button.

Now that you’ve created the menu, you need to place it on the right side by going to Appearance>>Widgets on the left pane.

Once on the Widget page, on the right pane expand the Sidebar Navigation section by clicking the gray triangle.

In the middle column, left click the Custom Menu widget and drag it to the Sidebar Navigation section.  Place it where you’d like it to appear (note the dotted line that appears for placement); release the left mouse button and the widget will slip in place.

The widget will then expand.

Give it a title – this is the text that will appear on the side menu.

Click the triangle to the right of the Select Menu drop down to expand it, and select the newly created menu.
