Horizontal Rule

Dr. Shawn Ramsey is Associate Professor, Sheep and Goat Specialist, and academic advisor in the Department of Animal Science. He received his Bachelor’s degree in animal science from Texas A&M University and his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in ruminant nutrition and reproductive physiology from New Mexico State University. Dr. Ramsey teaches an introductory animal science class (ANSC 107), sheep and goat production (ANSC 414), and the wool and mohair judging class (ANSC 314). He serves as the coordinator of the Texas A&M Wool and Mohair Judging Team and the Breeding Sheep Show Team. In addition, Ramsey serves as the undergraduate program leader that provides guidance and counseling to over 900 students enrolled in the Department of Animal Science. He also serves as the faculty coordinator for the Sheep and Goat Center and the Louis Pearce Pavilion. Ramsey has received numerous awards including the 1997 University Center for Teaching Excellence Award, the 1998 Association of Former Students College Level Distinguished Teaching Award, the 1998 College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Outstanding Teaching Award, the 1999 National Association of College Teachers of America Teaching Award, the 1999 College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ Honor Professor Award, the 2002 VCAE award for Advising, the 2007 VCAE for Industry, Agency Partnerships, the 2008 VCAE award for Teaching and the 2010 Margaret Annette Peters Award for Advising. Ramsey serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Junior Livestock Association, the Brazos County Youth Livestock Show, and President of the Texas Lamb Breeders Association. Ramsey and his wife, Kristi, reside in Navasota and have two sons, Kyle and Clayton.
