2011 Class in Dallas Now Full

insect collecting

Gail Warren (left) and Jenny Covington (Walker County) are excited to use their pooters and nets for the first time during the 2010 class in San Antonio.

All slots for the 2011 class have been filled, and the agenda is being finalized.  This should be an excellent class with some new teachers and activities.  Rob Cook with the U.S. EPA Region 6 office in Dallas will be leading an aquatic insect sampling class, and Janet Rowe, local beekeeper and bee removal specialist, will be talking bees and leading us through a honey judging exercise.  We’ll get a behind the scenes peek at the Dallas Insect Zoo and learn about the zoo’s integrated pest management program.  We’ll also visit the Butterflies Unlimited butterfly rearing facility with Dale Clark.

If you signed up, but have not yet received confirmation of your attendance, you may be one of those on the waiting list that could not be included this year.  We wish we could accomodate all who want to attend, but we feel more strongly that class size needs to be kept small to ensure a quality learning experience for all.
