Harris County 4-H exists because of parents and volunteers with a vision \u2014 the vision of developing youth holistically and empowering them to\u00a0improve their communities. We understand that everyone has different responsibilities, but you can get involved in\u00a0many ways. Every little bit counts, and together we can accomplish so much more.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\"Mother Parents!<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
\nHelp at home and in your club:\u00a0<\/span>Encourage your c<\/span>hild\u2019s project work, bring refreshments to a meeting, share your hobby…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u2022 Direct Volunteer<\/u><\/span>: has face-to-face contact with youth.<\/span>
\n Examples: <\/i>club manager, project <\/i>leader, <\/i>camp counselor<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Indirect Volunteer<\/u><\/span>: works on behalf of the 4-H Program but does not have face-to-face contact with youth.\u00a0 Examples: committee members, donors<\/i><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Episodic Volunteer<\/u><\/span>: helps with a single activity under the supervision of direct volunteers.\u00a0 Examples: <\/i>fair judges<\/i>, event helpers <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the safety of our children,
\nall 4-H Volunteers must be screened.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Adults at least 18 years of age (21 yrs. for overnight chaperones)\u00a0should enroll in 4-H Connect<\/a> and pay the annual $10 fee. Once in the system, volunteers are screened and must pass a criminal background check.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Parents:<\/strong><\/span> consider being screened in case you help out with an activity and have direct contact with youth. Plus, once you’re screened, you have more opportunities to\u00a0grow\u00a0with 4-H!\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
