Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory
The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) works to promote animal health and protect agricultural, companion animal and public health in Texas, and beyond, through excellence in veterinary diagnostic services. This includes the protection of horse health by offering a wide range of state-of-the-art diagnostic tests that deliver accurate results quickly and affordably.
TVMDL works with equine owners to run tests for export purposes, general horse health diagnostics, breeding soundness tests and pre-purchase drug screens. Some tests regularly provided include:
- West Nile virus
- Equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1)
- Equine infectious anemia/Coggins
- Contagious equine metritis (CEM)
- Piroplasmosis-Babesia caballi and Theileria equi
