February Program – Introduction (Ag/Wildlife Tax Valuation)

The first meeting for the 2019 series will take place on Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Washington County Fairgrounds Sales Facility in Brenham located at 1035 E Blue Bell Rd.  Our initial session will provide an overview of the program, share information for local resources, and provide participants with an opportunity to learn more about the fundamentals of getting started with managing their property.  Appraisers from each county will also be on hand for individual county breakout sessions to help answer questions related to Ag/Wildlife Tax Valuation for participants.  This is a great opportunity to network with other new landowners and learn about resources that can be of great assistance to you in establishing an agricultural or wildlife exemption for your property.  Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity!

April Program – Weed and Brush Control
W.E. Hill Community Center in Sealy

The third meeting for the 2019 series will take place on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the W.E. Hill Community Center located at 1000 Main Street in Sealy.  The goal of this session is to help landowners identify common weeds and brush species in our area. In addition to identifying problem species we will cover the ins and outs of why we have the weeds we do, how to determine the most effective treatment option, as well as covering a variety of herbicides and application methods for management and control of these plants. This is a great opportunity for any and all landowners to learn from the experts in a classroom setting and have a great opportunity to see equipment and demonstrations as part of the day. Also, if you have a weed or brush sample you would like identified please bring it and we will be glad to identify it for you.  Any plant sample need to be as fresh as possible, include leaves and roots, and flower (if applicable).  Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity!  Three continuing education units (3 CEUs; 1 General, 1 IPM, and 1 L&R) will be offered to all applicators in attendance.

May Program – Forage & Livestock Production
6633 Wied Road in La Grange

The fourth meeting for the 2019 series will take place on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Fritsch Property, located at 6633 Wied Road in La Grange.  This session will focus on answering questions and helping landowners navigate forage management and livestock production options for smaller acreage.  Topics will include soil testing, forage testing, forage systems and how best to manage the forage you want to have, livestock system options (not just cattle), and ag valuation options as they relate to livestock and forage.  Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity!  Two continuing education units (2 CEUs; 2 General) will be offered to all applicators in attendance.
