{"id":205,"date":"2018-06-04T14:22:41","date_gmt":"2018-06-04T19:22:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/agrilife.org\/capital4-h-new\/?page_id=205"},"modified":"2023-02-15T17:05:05","modified_gmt":"2023-02-15T23:05:05","slug":"full-time-americorps-positions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/agrilife.org\/capital4-h-new\/full-time-americorps-positions\/","title":{"rendered":"Full-time AmeriCorps Positions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Full-time 4-H CAPITAL AmeriCorps members serve as Science Club instructors for underserved youth by providing hands-on, project-based science lessons in Urban Farm topics<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Click on the different job descriptions for a position overview:<\/p>\n<p>Instructors will be expected to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Teach:<\/strong>\u00a0Lead afterschool\u00a0Science Clubs\u00a04 days a week; in June, lead summer-camp classes. Members teach from about 2:30-6, Monday through Thursday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plan:<\/strong>\u00a0Develop lessons and unit plans for each class. Members use a combination of predetermined lessons and lessons they create for their classes. Members have mornings and Fridays to plan for their classes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tend to animals and gardens: <\/strong>Support 4-H CAPITAL programming by tending to a multitude of animals and gardens housed both at the office and our schools.<br \/>\n<strong>Perform office duties:<\/strong>\u00a0Enter attendance, create mileage reports, document their time, meet and plan with other instructors, attend trainings and meetings, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Commit to a term of service from mid-August until the end of June<\/li>\n<li>Serve a total of 1700 hours (40-42.5 hours a week)<\/li>\n<li>Typical hours are Monday-Friday from 9am-6pm.<\/li>\n<li>Have reliable transportation and driver\u2019s license for travel to school sites<\/li>\n<li>Must consent to multiple criminal history background checks<\/li>\n<li>Have a\u00a0positive attitude and a willingness to learn new things<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with youth\u00a0preferred, but not required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Earn a living stipend, paid twice monthly<\/li>\n<li>Earn an education award after successful completion of\u00a0your term<\/li>\n<li>Student loans may qualify for forbearance during your term of service<\/li>\n<li>Health insurance and childcare assistance is\u00a0provided<\/li>\n<li>Professional development in teaching, service, and leadership<\/li>\n<li>All training in science curriculum and youth development is provided<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ready to apply?
